Last Wednesday, I had the pleasure of dining at Alfredo’s in Somerton. This charming restaurant offers a delightful fusion of Italian flavours crafted from the finest local ingredients, sprinkled with a touch of Somerset magic.

Alfredo’s is more than just a restaurant; it’s a culinary experience that also boasts a bakery and bar. From the moment you step inside, you’re enveloped in an atmosphere designed for relaxation and enjoyment. Our table was positioned next to a wood-burning stove that crackled away throughout the meal.

The team at Alfredo’s takes pride in sourcing the freshest local produce, transforming it into mouthwatering sharing plates that celebrate the essence of Italian cuisine while embracing the spirit of Somerset.

During my visit, I indulged in a delectable array of dishes, each bursting with flavour:

Slow-Cooked Pork Shoulder with Cannellini Beans & Salsa Verde

Tender and succulent, this dish exemplified the art of slow cooking, offering a melt-in-your-mouth experience. The pork was infused with rich flavours and paired beautifully with a savoury sauce that enhanced its natural juiciness.

Crispy New Potatoes with Rosemary

A fragrant and comforting start to the meal, showcasing the simplicity of quality ingredients. The potatoes were perfectly seasoned and crisp perfection, offering a satisfying crunch with each bite.

Fennel, Blood Orange and Bitter Leaves

A refreshing and vibrant salad that perfectly balanced sweetness with a hint of bitterness, creating a symphony of flavours. The combination of crisp fennel, tangy blood orange and bitter leaves provided a delightful contrast of textures and tastes.

Salt-Baked Beetroot, Burrata, Hazelnut, Green Apple

A harmonious combination of textures and tastes, where the earthiness of beetroot danced with the creaminess of burrata, elevated by the crunch of hazelnuts and the crispness of green apple. Each component complemented the others, resulting in a dish that was both satisfying and memorable.

At Alfredo’s, every dish is crafted with care and passion, ensuring that each bite is a delight. Whether you’re savouring their signature sharing plates or unwinding with a drink at the bar, Alfredo’s promises an unforgettable dining experience where great food, drink and service converge.

Alfredo’s has a menu for children which is available to view on their website along with all other menus.

There is ample parking nearby. The Brunel Shopping Precinct Car Park is only a stone’s throw away from Alfredo’s.

Don’t miss the opportunity to immerse yourself in the flavours of Italy with a Somerset twist at Alfredo’s. Buon appetite!
