Yesterday evening, I had the pleasure of dining at The Hankridge Arms, a charming 16th-century farmhouse that’s been transformed into a cosy restaurant and bar. Tucked just off the M5, it’s easy to see why it’s a favourite stop for many looking for a bite to eat. The building includes period features like stone mullion windows and inglenook fireplaces.
The staff at The Hankridge Arms were very friendly and welcoming, making me feel right at home from the moment I walked through the door.
The Experience
For the main course, I opted for the slow roast pork belly, which was an absolute delight. The pork was tender and full of flavour, complemented by the fondant potato and a medley of mixed greens. The crispy black pudding added a nice contrast in texture, while the roasted celeriac puree and cider gravy brought everything together with a rich, satisfying finish. It’s worth noting that this dish is both gluten-free and dairy-free, which is always a plus for those with dietary restrictions.
To round off the meal, I couldn’t resist the chef’s homemade cheesecake for dessert. It was light yet indulgent, exactly what I was hoping for.
Whether you’re passing by on the motorway or looking for a charming spot for dinner in Taunton, The Hankridge Arms is definitely worth a visit. With friendly service and a menu that caters to various dietary needs without compromising on taste, it’s a gem of a place that I’m sure I’ll be returning to.
