Knight’s Fish Restaurant, Glastonbury, Somerset: My Review

Earlier today, I had the pleasure of dining at Knight’s Fish Restaurant in Glastonbury, a spot that effortlessly blends history with exceptional culinary experience. Established in 1909, Knight’s has been a cornerstone of the community for well over a century, and it’s no surprise it was named Restaurant of the Year at the National Fish and Chip Awards 2024.

With plenty of options on the menu, I went for “Knight’s Signature”, which included house cod and chips, homemade mushy peas, bread and butter, tartare sauce and a pot of tea. Yes, a pot of tea! All very British!

The Experience

The cod was perfectly cooked, boasting a crisp, golden batter and succulent, flaky fish inside. The chips were a delightful blend of crispy exteriors and fluffy interiors, truly complementing the fish. The homemade mushy peas added a rich, earthy flavour, while the tartare sauce provided a tangy kick. The simple yet comforting bread and butter, alongside a classic pot of tea, perfectly complimented the meal.

Choosing to sit outside, I was treated to a delightful sunny day, enhancing the overall experience. The service was impressively fast and the staff were all exceptionally friendly.

The atmosphere at Knight’s Fish Restaurant was superb. It’s a place where history meets vibrant, contemporary dining, and it’s clear why it has garnered such prestigious accolades. Whether you’re a local or just passing through Glastonbury, Knight’s Fish Restaurant is an absolute must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy traditional British fare with top-notch service.
