On Monday evening, I paid a visit to Bardacious on Quiet Street in Bath. This is a bright and breezy spot with a menu that draws influence from both “Californian and Mexican” flavours. Styled as more than just a Mexican restaurant, Bardacious leans into beachy Tulum-inspired vibes, with small plates, signature dishes, and an Agaveria full of tequila-based cocktails. Sadly, I didn’t sample the tequila on this visit – something I’m already regretting.
I decided to stick with a few of the smaller plates on offer. First up were two types of tacos: the confit duck, served with mango salsa and pickled red cabbage, and the pulled beef, topped with chipotle mayo and pico de gallo. Both were satisfying and full of bold flavours. There’s a definite richness to the duck, balanced by the sharpness of the mango, while the pulled beef had a lovely smokiness to it. It’s clear the kitchen knows its way around slow-cooked meat. These were well-executed, punchy tacos that didn’t feel overly heavy. Both were gone within a few minutes!

To cool things down a bit, I went for the charred pineapple. Caramelised wedges dressed in a chilli lime glaze with a crack of black pepper made for a surprisingly refreshing dish. It worked well as a palate cleanser after the spice and richness of the tacos.

I finished with churros – classic and comforting, dusted in cinnamon sugar and served with both chocolate and caramel condensed milk for dipping. Sweet, simple, and very satisfying.
Service throughout was prompt and attentive without feeling rushed. This is exactly what you would want on a laid-back evening out.
Although the restaurant wasn’t particularly busy (to be expected for a Monday), the atmosphere still felt upbeat, helped along by the bright interior and friendly staff. I didn’t sample anything from their Agaveria this time around, but the tequila selection and cocktail list certainly caught my eye. This is a good excuse to plan a return visit.
For those in Bath looking for a relaxed dinner with a bit of flair, Bardacious is well worth a look. My brother and I have shortlisted this restaurant as an option for Father’s Day, which is only just around the corner!
Is Bardacious suitable for families? Yes, you can view the children’s menu on their website.
Where should I park? I recommend using Southgate car park. The restaurant is a 10-minute walk from the car park.
